Meal Delivery Service Driver

Position Description:

There is currently an opportunity for those  volunteers seeking to deliver hot meals to Customers in the Buderim and Maroochydore areas from a centre in Maroochydore. There are a variety of shifts available. You may even bring a friend as teams of two are welcomed. If you have a sense of humour and an ability to liaise across a wide spectrum of people, you’re the person that this company is looking for. Using your own vehicle you will be buddied with another volunteer who will be responsible for delivering a hot meal to the customer base. There are a variety of shifts throughout the week.

Requirements: A full open driving licence and a roadworthy, insured and registered vehicle. A sense of humour and an ability to liaise across a wide spectrum of people.

Duration:  Regular, more than 6 months

Volunteer Driver

Position Description: This community service is organised by a not-for profit organisation. Its core business is to understand the community’s needs and to develop innovative responses for people who are ageing, living with a disability or mental illness. You will be involved in picking up, driving and dropping off clients to their destination, and returning to their home when instructed. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with clients, you will also have good knowledge of streets and roads in the local area. You will have the characteristics of Empathy with the frail, aged and elderly people as well as being caring, reliable and flexible. You will learn to assist the frail, aged and disabled people. You will also gain increased organisational skills as well as learning how to be part of a team.

Requirements: : The organisation will assist in applying for a Police Check and Yellow Card. You will also need a Drivers Authorization.

Duration: Regular – more than 6 months

Availability: There are morning and afternoon shifts available.

Volunteer Bus Driver

Position Description:  This community services organisation is a not-for profit organisation. Its core business is to understand community needs and develop innovative responses for people who are ageing, living with a disability or mental illness. You will be required to drive a bus to places like Strathpine, North Lakes and also places such as the Noosa District.   You will have the ability to communicate effectively with clients, you will also have good knowledge of streets and roads in the local area. You will have the characteristics of Empathy with the frail, aged and elderly people as well as being caring, reliable and flexible. You will learn to assist the frail, aged and disabled people. You will also gain increased organisational skills as well as learning how to be part of a team.

Requirements: A driver’s Licence (MR) is required to drive a 22 seater bus  and also a National Police Check and Drivers Authorization.

Duration: Long Term

Availability: Saturdays between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm.

Volunteer Social Support Person

Position Description: A local not-for-profit organisation is looking for a volunteer for a day respite centre in Maroochydore. Duties include, day trips as a social support person on the bus, working as a social support person at the centre, and acting as a social support person while attending customer social activities.

Volunteer for an Under 35’s Social Group with disabilities

Position Description: Are you a young, vibrant person who would love to assist our qualified staff run a social group for our 18 to 35 year old clients with a disability? Do you also love getting involved in outdoor activities? If your answer is yes, we want you every second Friday from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the Maroochydore area to meet and greet our under 35’s, supervise them and do a handover at pick up. Our group of clients are active and social so we need a volunteer who can match their energy and enthusiasm. Your previous activities may have have included rock climbing, outdoor games at park, BBQs, cruises on the Maroochydore River and similar, or you may want to participate in activities such as these. The Volunteer would be updated with plans and times for future activities.  Volunteers seeking work experience are welcomed. The activities are generally held in the Maroochydore region, however, you will meet first at a Maroochydore Community Centre.

Requirements: Volunteers must have relevant checks to be able to work with clients with a disability and you will need to be over 18. A Disability – Yellow Card will be organised for you.

Duration: Long Term

Training: Volunteer training as per organisation’s policy.

Availability: 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm every second Friday. No activities commence before 3 pm.

Volunteer Administration Assistant

Position Description: We require a Volunteer Administration Assistant living in or near Beerwah or surrounds to assist and support the Administration Team Leader to provide effective and efficient office support services. We aim to maintain aged people and younger people with disabilities who are at risk of premature institutionalisation in their own homes.

Duties will include:

  • Reception duties including answering telephone calls and being a first point of contact
  • Clerical support tasks including: mail distribution, maintaining correspondence logs, photocopying and filing
  • Basic Word processing services
  • Promote safety by following organisational WHS requirements and guidelines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Communicate respectfully with all individuals including clients, representatives, staff and the community
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by involvement in staff meetings, and feedback mechanisms
  • Participate in education and training opportunities
  • Other duties as requested by the Administration Team Leader

Volunteer Driver – Beerwah

Position Description: Volunteer drivers living in or near Beerwah or surrounds are required to assist customers to and from appointments. The organisation will provide a petrol allowance for mileage.

Duties will include:

  • Drive service users to medical appointments, shopping, Day Centre activities, etc. as rostered under Transport Portfolio
  • Be responsible for the welfare, comfort and safety of service users from their homes to their destination and return

Volunteer Cleaner

Position Description: Two volunteers are needed to help maintain the organisation’s environs and contents.

Duties will include:

  • Cleaning/dusting display cases, items, bookshelves etc.
  • Vacuuming and mopping
  • Cleaning and maintaining toilets
  • Cleaning/dusting office areas (computer tables, filing cabinets, monitor screens, etc)
  • Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy (including cupboards)

Position Description:

A delivery driver program requires drivers in Coolum Beach. It has up to 5 runs delivering meals to clients in an area between Bli Bli bridge to the South, Castaways Beach to the North and Valdora Road to the West. Meals are ready to leave the kitchen at 11am. Runs are usually completed by about 1pm. A driver and an assistant deliver the means they both go into the home.

Requirements: Current drivers license, clean and roadworthy vehicle and a caring and pleasant manner, being able to fill in at times where others cannot would also be helpful.

Duration: Regular ongoing – More than 6 months.

Training:  On the job

Reimbursements: a $7.50 reimbursement is provided to help with the cost of fuel.

Position Description:

A paid position exists for a thriving families coordinator.  This position exists at a Community Centre acting as an independent social purpose community organisation. The Community Centre has been working actively in the greater Nambour and Sunshine Coast region for over 30 years and now has over 20 employees walking beside the community’s most vulnerable. You will be working in a broad range of programs including Thriving Families, Settlement and Community Development. The Community Centre has a strong agenda for growth and is committed to social justice and collective wellbeing. They work towards this by co-designing opportunities for participation, well being and collective community action that contribute to a flourishing civil society.

The applicable candidate will be a person who coordinates and is responsible for all aspects of the maintenance and future of Thriving Families. Competent in, management funding and reporting administration using OASIS; DEX and other similar government and non-government systems. Taking a lead role in the ongoing development of programs and responses in a progressive, antioppressive way that supports the empowerment and growth of families in the community. Responsible for the participation in a sector response to the needs of families and children in Nambour and more broadly the Sunshine Coast. You will be able to manage the resourcing of the program both financially and through human resources.  You will be able to undertake various forms of community analysis, development, creation and, coordination in a range of diverse responsive entry points into support and connection. You will be able to develop community wide links between families, groups, organisations and other agencies to build the overall capacity of the community and its families.

Key selection criteria: Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Social Work or Human services. You will have an ability to articulate your framework of practice which draws from specific values, principles and social theories that contribute to an organisation committed to community development and social justice principles.  You will have demonstrated knowledge of a range of progressive social work practices, including feminist practice and anti-oppressive frameworks; with an understanding of how this relates to contemporary families and parenting issues.  You will have practice knowledge around early intervention principles/practices with family oriented programs, and an understanding of the diverse models of parenting and issues affecting families and children. You will have a demonstrated ability to manage programs, including the ability to work creatively and innovatively, manage budgets and contractual obligations with diverse funding bodies. You will have a demonstrated experience in managing a small team of people, or demonstrated knowledge/experience of processes in the areas of group supervision, reflective practice and leadership. You will have a demonstrated ability and/or experience in the provision of a leadership role and participation within the human services sector.

Requirements: A current C Class drivers licence is essential. A current Blue Card is essential.  (Please advise if you do not have one, but are eligible to be issued one on application.) Ideally you would also have a good level of patience and interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate with people from all backgrounds and ages. The centre asks that if successful you are willing to volunteer for at least 6 hrs one day a week. The current document support volunteer takes appointments on a Tuesday however this can be changed to suit the new volunteer.

Working with this community centre is approved by Centrelink for those job seekers wishing to undertake voluntary work as an approved activity. A Blue Card is not a requirement for this position however the organisation are able to support the volunteer in applying for one if they choose.

Position Description:

The Maintenance Officer for this volunteering position collaborates with the Manager to ensure Refuge equipment, buildings and structures are adequately maintained. They maintain effective communication with the Manager regarding their tasks and suggestions for improvement to the physical Refuge environment. This role contributes greatly to the visual appeal of a refuge for visitors and volunteers as well as to its future sustainability.

This volunteering position requires the general maintenance tasks such as basic repairs to refuge property, animal spaces and equipment, and the general refuge environment. Maintaining public spaces to ensure a presentable and safe environment for refuge visitors, volunteers and staff, such as using the blower to clear leaves, keeping pathways clear. it requires maintenance of buildings such as organising and clearing of guttering. It also requires assistance with mowing and edging public areas and working alongside gardening volunteers on projects as required, advising the manager when a dump run is needed and disposing of the relevant items and gardening debris. You will pick up larger donated or purchased items as required. You will be involved in cleaning and maintaining equipment and maintenance work spaces.  You will be involved in advising the manager when equipment needs repairing or replacing, reporting maintenance needs to the manager and Other maintenance related tasks as required.

Requirements: A Drivers license and own transport is necessary for this role as we have no public transport available. You will also be required to occasionally travel to purchase resources to repair items.

Duration: Regular – More than 6 months.

Training: On the job training from staff and volunteers.

Availability: This role will require a minimum weekly visit to a refuge, and suitable hours to ensure the work is completed. These days and times can vary, and may be set by the volunteer.

You will clean counters and the pot washing area. You will ensure that a clean and tidy work area is maintained at all times. You will also comply with all the relevant policies and procedures.

Requirements: Heavy lifting may be required of up to 15kgs (potting mix/mulch). A Demonstrated ability to safely undertake duties.

Position Description: The organisation is looking for someone who would like to share their IT knowledge to assist others in furthering their computer skills and help out around the centre with basic IT situations.  As a Computer Assistant you would assist community members (over 50 yrs) in a small group setting (2-4 people) starting on 14 November, for a short free course called “Internet Savvy Seniors”. The computer room has just been upgraded so it’s a pleasurable work space.  The centre asks that if successful you are willing to volunteer for at least 6 hrs one day a week.
