Volunteer Board Member

Position Description: Suitably skilled people are sought by the local not-for-profit hospital foundation known as Wishlist for appointment by the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services.

  •  Significant management experience –
  • Have a positive position on corporate social responsibility
  • Be a proven strategic thinker
  • Have experience at Board Level
  • Be passionate about philanthropy and in particular the work of the Sunshine Coast Health Foundation (Wishlist)
  • Have strong links to community and business sector
  • Possess an understanding of health sector/government
  • Be a dynamic and innovative leader

The nominated candidates will have attained a significant level of success in their respected fields and be team players who are prepared to commit fully and enthusiastically to their roles as honorary Directors of the Sunshine Coast Health Foundation. Additional to the professional specialties outlined above a strong personal and work ethic is required.

To have supported the work of the Sunshine Coast Health Foundation in the past is a bonus.

Board members are also expected to provide informal advice to the Wishlist team in their specialist areas and seek opportunities to promote Wishlist in the local community and business sector.

Requirements:  Legislative requirements (Hospitals Foundations Act 1982, Part 5, S18. 3(b)) requires that a body corporate will include membership of an employee of a university or other body providing education at tertiary level with which the body corporate has been associated. Preference will be given to applicants associated with the University of the Sunshine Coast or other educational bodies supporting the work of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.

Duration: Long Term

Availability: The obligation is to prepare for and attend six board meetings (approximately 2 hours) and 11 board sub-committee meetings each year (approximately 1.5 hours each), as well as representing Wishlist at various networking and promotional opportunities from time to time.

Administration Assistant

Position Description:  Assist in a range of administrative duties, including responding to telephone enquiries, which require a high degree of judgement, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity when performing. Assist in generating reports and other documentation when necessary, utilising the Microsoft Office software suite and any other business software required.

Undertake any additional duties as directed by your supervisor, within the scope of this position. Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters relating to staff, customers, retail procedures and security.

Requirements:  No formal qualifications or certificates are required to perform the duties of this position. Previous experience in an administrative role, or any relevant training and certificates would be an advantage, but are not essential. An understanding of computing functions and a demonstrated ability to use the Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook. etc).

Duration: Long Term

Availability: Up to 15hrs per week during times between Monday to Saturday as arranged to suit the Shop Supervisor and volunteer.

Community Dinner Volunteer

Position Description:  Preparing, cooking and serving meals and cleaning up after the meals. Community Dinners are Each Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm at the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre. Must be able to work in a team environment. These meals are for the homeless and struggling families in our community.

Requirements: Need to have closed-in shoes to work in commercial kitchen. Need to be committed and punctual.

Duration: Long Term

Availability: Thursdays – 3:30pm to 6:00pm

Handyman

Position Description:  Handyman / Maintenance person required for the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre. To do odd jobs around the Centre, both indoors and outdoors. Days and times of work are negotiable.

Requirements: Need to have a good knowledge of handyman skills or preferable trade skills.

Duration: Long Term

Availability: Times are negotiable, as are the days.

Volunteer Interviewer

Position Description:  Working as a Volunteer Interviewer, you will manage all elements of volunteering either within Volunteering Sunshine Coast (VSC) or on behalf of VSC for which you are recruiting volunteers.

The role involves assessing and meeting an organisations needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers. Mainly assist volunteers to find suitable volunteer jobs in community organisations throughout Queensland.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Genuine interest and desire to assist people.
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn new in house database.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate with people facing a diverse range of problems.
  • Capacity to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity.
  • General office and scheduling skills.
  • Experience of developing links with member organisations and other agencies.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure Ability to understand, follow and adhere to VSC Policies and Procedures
