During Men’s Health Week 2017, held 12-18 June, communities Australia-wide hold engaging events, promotions and activities tailored to the needs of men and boys. The focus is on improving and maintaining the health of our men, boys and their families, and having those meaningful conversations about factors that keep us healthy in body and mind.
A number of free activities and events will be held on the Sunshine Coast to promote this year’s theme: “Healthy Body – Healthy Mind: Keeping the Balance”. Below is a list of events aiming to respond to issues impacting the health of men and boys in our community:
Learn how to get the best out of your diet, and how eating well positively affects your mental health. During the session, you will gain knowledge about what to eat to create a healthy and varied diet.

Join Jarreau in an all-ages, all levels men’s only fitness class followed by a light lunch of healthy sandwiches.

Dr Craig Allingham is a men’s health educator and sport physiotherapist who wants you to know how your health is travelling. Craig Allingham is the author of Prostate Recovery MAP – Men’s Action Plan, and his presentation will cover prostate disease and other aspects of male health attitudes, behaviors and outcomes. He is very entertaining and informative and speaks fluent ‘bloke’. Women are also welcome but must bring at least one man with them.

The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show (16-18 June) is a local event with strong community ties that relies on a team of dedicated volunteers to operate. Available positions include:
Volunteers are asked to pay $5 to assist with Insurance Costs. This fee also entitles entry into the Show and fully catered meals whilst you are volunteering for a minimum of four hours.
